Hello, and welcome to the first Captain’s Blog of the big ’25! We are your school captains, Eva and Jaxon. This term has been a fabulous start to the year – action-packed with lots of learning, excursions, sporting carnivals and events.
The ELC’s new nature playground has been a wonderful addition to their play space, allowing our youngest students to explore and engage with their creativity. Next on the list is the nature playground for Years 1–6, a highly anticipated feature that students are eagerly looking forward to enjoying.
We are incredibly grateful to the Parents in Partnership for their hard work and efforts in organising events that bring our school community together. The Colour Run was a massive success; the weekly prizes and staff soakings fuelled our efforts to keep raising much-needed funds for our school, particularly for the Year 1-6 nature playground. The final event in week 5 included rotations of water fights, sponge fights and slip’n’slide, followed by the big circuit full of colour, water, slime and the highlight – the foam machine. Mr Marcel was clearly enjoying spraying foam on us all!
In week 6, the Years 4-6 had their Interhouse Swimming Carnival at Bayswater Waves. Despite the sizzling heat, we enjoyed the friendly competition and cooling off in the pool. Nightingale came through with the overall win, which they were very excited about.
Week 9 ended with our annual Harmony Day Celebrations. This year was a whole day event, comprised of the morning parade and assembly, rotations of the stalls, Tombola and BCS community artwork between recess and lunch, and then the day ended with Years 1-6 learning different games from around the world. We are very thankful for the team of staff that organised the day and for all the parents and families who ran stalls showcasing and sharing their cultures through food, music and significant items.
RiseUP! kicked off with the next generation of leaders and a focus on our school value of Kindness. Activities this term included a Kindness Bingo Challenge, acknowledging each other’s positive traits and creating “Good Samaritan” bags for the unsung heroes of our staff who work tirelessly for the benefit of our school.
Today, as Term 1 comes to a close, it has been meaningful to reflect on the Easter Story and Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Our new tradition, Easter at Beechboro, led us on an engaging journey through the final week of Jesus’ life—His death on the cross and His resurrection—reminding us of the hope and love at the heart of the Easter message.
We hope you have a safe and blessed Easter and enjoy the two-week holiday!
